What is House Call Dog Grooming? // what you need to know // my equipment & process
House call dog grooming became really popular recently during the COVID-19 pandemic years when people didn't want to leave their homes, but of course the dog still needed to be groomed! So in addition to grooming in a salon I began visiting certain clients in their homes instead of them coming to me. And for some clients, a groomer making house calls is a real godsend and really meets their needs by reducing the overall stress of grooming day. But it's not for everyone. In this video I'll show you my setup so you will get a better idea of what's involved.

    When the pressure regulator whistles, no further heat is requires. Just turn off the heat and allow it cook until pressure is equalized. Whatever you may be cooking, it's done for sure when pressure is equalized and you can open the lid.

    I’m having a problem of my broccoli seeds gelling up like chia seeds, they even did this within one hour, and then I’m unable to drain them properly, do you have any solution to this problem?

    • @marykayriley
      @marykayriley 2 місяці тому

      I'm going to be honest, I have no idea why that's happening. It has never happened to me. I just did a bunch of Google searching and the issue wasn't really being addressed anywhere. Most of the articles on the web refer to Chia seeds when it comes to gelling and the science behind it is complicated but it has everything to do with their chemical composition which is very different from broccoli seeds. So I don't know why that is happening to you, the only thing i can suggest is that maybe somehow that batch of seeds got some chia seeds or other mucilage-producing seeds mixed into it and are messing up the whole batch. Maybe start with some new seeds.

      Yes of course! At this point they are ready to eat. Some people like to remove some of the seed husks that are still mingling with the sprouts, to do this just dunk them in a bowl of water and the husks will float. Scoop them off.

    How long do they keep after day 6, & can you freeze them?

    • @marykayriley
      @marykayriley 3 місяці тому

      I have never frozen them so I don't know. And also mine never last six days, ive always eaten them way before that. But id guess that by day 6 they would be past their prime; the earlier sprouts are eaten the more potent their health benefits are. Sulphoraphane content is highest when the sprouts are young. So I don't sprout in big batches, I make a jar or two and eat them up in a couple days. I keep a constant cycle of jars going so that i never run out and they're always fresh

    I have a question with this method, where does the greens get its nutrients from or are these low nutrients foods? My understanding of plants is they take nutrients from the soil.

    • @marykayriley
      @marykayriley 2 місяці тому

      hi, good question, and you're partially correct in that plants do take nutrients from soil. But we aren't growing plants here, our goal is simply to get the seeds to germinate and create a sprout. All of the many health benefits of a sprout come from within the seed itself. If you wanted to grow the broccoli seeds into a plant, you would technically be growing microgreens and instead of using the jar method I show in this video you would sow the seeds in soil after soaking so that they would take root, create root systems and become little plants and grow, supported by the soil they're planted in. But we're just making sprouts here. And broccoli sprouts are extremely nutrient dense and contain high amounts of vitamins A, B6 and C and are especially prized for their very high sulforaphane (a potent antioxidant) content, all with no help from soil.

    This might be interesting to some about pressure cookers - From what I heard they appeared in the 1700s in France - I have a lid from a pressure pot that was my grate grate grand mothers- When my grate grate grandfather came here from France in 1805 it was one of the items he packed with him from France - the modern pressure cookers were invented in France in the late 1600s by the 1700s heavy cast iron lids were in common use as for pressuring cast iron pots to lesson cooking time - It was primarily a gadget that the well off used - The lid I have might weigh 75 pounds or so and is around an inch thick cast iron - with a large cast iron handle - My grand father said as a kid in the latte 1800s they laid a piece of leather over a cast iron pot then set the lid sort of into the inner rim of the large cast iron pot and worked it in so it did not leak and blow steam - The weight of the lid and the leather hide sealed the pot rim so it would pressure up - My grand father had measured the temperature wile my grand mother used it in the 1920s and said the pot did not vent steam till about 270°F or so - My dad's mom also used that lid many times a week in larger cast iron pots in the early 1900s - there were 8 children in the family so they also cooked large meals - Pressure cookers are. Not all that new they have been around a long time - I have volumes of books on the maybe 4 or 5 worlds fairs in France from 1850 or so onward, printed in English - there prints of those heavy pressure lids demonstrated on kettles - In the 1870 France worlds far the steam jacket kettles appeared - That's history few know of today -

    Half of my carrier was the oil & gas industry its not known by most but production has to do with cooking the oil - the other half of my carrie i owned a commercial cooking service company - I had 5 star resturants that i serviced also prisons with 300 gallon kettles that i serviced and maintained for yrs - As a rule you want to bring a pot up till it vents some steam - then bring the temperature down to were your not venting any steam but the pot is under pressure - when a pot vents steam thats flavor going to the air - you dont want to loose that flavor - Beans, brown rice, and other foods the skins have lectins - if you ever heard of Blew Zones thats were it common for people to live 90 to 120 yrs cancer free and die a natural death - One thing they have in common is a way to soften the lectuns - lectins are sharp like broke glass it a natural means plants use to kill off bugs that eat the seeds up - the lectuns cut the bugs intestine up so they die off befor laying eggs - For us it contrabutes to irritable bow syndrem - in blue zones they boil the brown rice or beans for an hour to soften the lectuns then turn the heat down and let it simmer - With a pressure cooker as long as you let it pressure up for at least 30 minites it will soften the lectins also so the dont damage our intestines and make there way into our blood stream and damage arteries - look up Dr Steve Grundy -

    I just always set the timer which allows me not to leave the house but go about other things to do which makes it kind of difficult to count whistles or forget also not all pressure cookers do this, some just do a constant hiss. And yes you adjust the time, that’s why I dislike Instant Pot and the preset electric ones because I live in high altitude and I’ve found out stove top gives me more control. Add a little bit of oil when cooking rice, beans or other legumes that froth and that reduces it although doesn’t eliminate it completely. Great video thanks.

In that video i made it was summertime here in the southwestern US where humidity levels are extremely low so the air is very dry. My skin hates it, but my sprouts love it! My first piece of advice is to focus on keeping your seeds/sprouts as dry and well drained as possible between rinsings. Keeping the jar inverted so they aren't sitting in residual standing water as shown in the video was a revelation for me. If you don't have an inverted jar system set up I recommend trying one out. And if you live in a humid climate try running a fan near your jars, the air circulation will help them avoid getting soggy which may stimulate better growth. Like anything else in life you have to tinker a bit to find what works best for you.

      Thanks so much! I use the same kind jars, but I live in the UP MI, I guess the temperature play a role, I will try my best to keep it dry between rinses😊

      Lol cuz that's a huge pressure cooker! It just looks scary though. Remember, as long as everything is working there is nothing to be afraid of. Make all the visual checks and run the tests in the video and you're all good. If you want extra certainty go check out the Hawkins website, there is tons of info on there and you'll see that people all over the world use those giant cookers every day

      Extra note, because that's such a huge cooker (the biggest ive ever used is a 3L), you really should go to the Hawkins site and see if there are special directions for the extra large cookers like yours

    No matter how many times I hear something repeated, sometimes I need to hear it one more time for it to hit me as to why it's important. Regular uploading is absolutely essential for making money on ads for so many reasons. It's the only way the system can really work. And it's not only because it will grow your channel so much faster, but it stocks your library full of videos ready to start making money for you once you are monetized. I never really fully realized that very important aspect until now! It's a bit embarrassing to admit but it's just true. How long have you been "active" on UA-cam?? Months? Years? Many years?
